"Benumbed"

Writer: Jessica D'ErcoleJessica D'Ercole

My seasons turned a sensational view

Was the coldest of winter when I met you

My darkness is the absence of your light

Your absence of light remains bright

I'll give you mine and you'll give me yours,

We take turns, except in converse

Be sure that yours is intertwined,

While you watch me walk this tight rope, blind

Made with love, warm to the touch,

I consumed your baneful clutch.

My fulminating laughter sweep the street,

Took my breath away, the taste bittersweet.

Still to a chilling place you retreat,

And tread on me before you wipe your feet.
